  • Salary of £21,840 per annum (Paid at the REAL Living Wage)

The Role - Community Caretaker


Reporting to the Services Manager, you'll provide effective and consistent cleaning, caretaking and waste management service to NWH's void properties.

Assisting with the cleaning of resident communal areas and office spaces, including providing specialist cleans. You'll play a key role across the organisation delivering value for money and customer satisfaction.

This will involve:

  • Conduct thorough prevoid clearances via effective waste removal strategies, including responsible disposal at designated waste management facilities.
  • Carry out detailed cleaning prior to relet of properties, ensuring NWH standards are met.
  • Verify and program Communal entrance fobs/keys for void properties
  • Complete specialist cleaning tasks utilising appropriate equipment and following appropriate safety protocols.
  • Assist Community Cleaners with the daytoday cleaning of resident communal areas and NWH office spaces.
  • Support Community Safety Officers with initiatives related to cleanliness and compliance e.g. meter readings / assisting with a 2person manual handling task.
  • Monitor stock levels and request cleaning materials as required.
  • Keep accurate records of waste disposal and cleaning activities for reporting purposes.
  • Liaise with the Supervisor/ Service Manager regularly to update them on all matters relating to the appearance of the schemes within your geographical area.
  • Escalate issues or concerns that customers are experiencing as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Our Requirements - Community Caretaker

  • Experience of working within the cleaning/ maintenance sector preferably for a local authority/registered social landlord or commercial contractor
  • Experience of maintaining high health and safety standards within a cleaning/maintenance environment
  • Awareness of Health and Safety Procedures including Fire Safety, incident /accident/near miss reporting
  • Awareness of legislation in regard to COSSH. Legionella Control
  • Awareness of professional boundaries
  • Awareness of the support needs of vulnerable people
  • Awareness of Safeguarding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic IT skills, including MS office packages.
  • Full UK drivers' licence, drive a works large van up to 3,500kg
  • You will demonstrate an ability to be courteous and be able to say basic greetings and pronounce place names accurately in Welsh.

Work requires lifting and carrying and of furniture
