We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong background in managing challenging behavior to become part of our team in local primary schools. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of one year of experience working with students displaying challenging behavior and should be passionate about supporting children's educational and emotional growth.

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons to ensure all students can engage with the curriculum.
  • Offer one-to-one or small group assistance to students with challenging behavior, utilizing strategies to handle and de-escalate tough situations.
  • Build positive connections with students to create a supportive and nurturing learning atmosphere.
  • Participate in developing and executing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with behavioral requirements, tracking progress and adjusting approaches when needed.
  • Work alongside the school's SENCO and other team members to create and implement behavior management plans and interventions.
  • Encourage and reinforce positive behavior through praise, support, and rewards to strengthen desired behaviors.
  • Act as a positive role model for students by showcasing patience, empathy, and respect in all interactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student advancements, behavior incidents, and interventions according to school guidelines.
  • Support students during transitions between tasks or areas to ensure a smooth and secure shift.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge in behavior management and special education.

Requirements for the Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a primary school.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling challenging behavior, with a good grasp of behavior management strategies and methods.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities to establish connections with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patient, resilient, and flexible, with the capability to stay composed under pressure.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for helping children learn and develop emotionally, dedicated to inclusive education.
  • Relevant qualifications like CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory.
