Plant Area Assistant

We currently have a vacancy for a full-time Plant Area Assistant, working in our large destination garden centre.

Gates is a family run business, committed to growth and with excellent customer service standards at its core.

Set in a beautiful rural location, this large garden centre covers over 12,500m2 of retail displays, offering everything from indoor and outdoor plants, garden care and hardware, home ware, garden furniture and BBQs, pet care, gifts, clothing and much more besides.

There is also a large farm shop and two restaurants on site.

The role involves:

  • Assisting customers with indoor and outdoor plant enquiries and purchases
  • Maintaining the appearance of visual plant displays and department housekeeping
  • Processing stock
  • Delivering an exceptional level of customer service at all times
- have a friendly personality with an ability to engage easily and connect with our customers
- be able to recognise and act on sales opportunities
- an interest in gardening and plants is preferred, however experience and knowledge are not necessarily required as full training will be given
- be keen to learn and enthusiastic
- enjoy working outdoors whatever the weather
- have an ability to work well as part of a small and friendly team

Applicants must also be professional and well-presented and have excellent customer service skills.

This role is full-time, permanent, working four weekdays and alternate weekends.
