Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for Respiratory Outpatients and Long Covid

Part-time

12 month fixed term post or secondment

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Long Covid Multi-Disciplinary Team working at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. The service is looking for a passionate and creative individual who can help patients with Breathing Pattern Disorders. This role is based in physiotherapy outpatients at Glenfield Hospital as part of an established team.

Main duties of the job

To be the responsible physiotherapist for the assessment and treatment of adults with Breathing Pattern Disorders and long term respiratory conditions. Seeing Post COVID pts in the COVID clinic, working alongside Nurse specialists, Respiratory Consultants and the COVID pulmonary rehab team. Treating patients with a focus on breathing re-training for Breathing Pattern Disorders, chest clearance techniques, individualised programmes of care and fatigue management. You will follow these patients up in Physio outpatients, working alongside and supported by our current respiratory out-patient team.

The Clinical Specialist will:- Provide clinical and professional leadership to Occupational Therapy (OT) or Physiotherapy (PT) colleagues in the speciality areaLead evaluate and develop clinical practice within a specialty ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines and frameworksResponsible for the clinical standards, evidence based practise and quality metrics within the specialityWork as an autonomous practitioner to provide specialist therapy assessments, diagnose and develop individualised treatment programmes based on the patients needs, using advanced clinical reasoning skillsTo be responsible for a clinical caseload; which will include complex cases within their area of specialty.Undertake an active role in developing and promoting Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy within the specialty.Be responsible for the day to day management of the delivery of the Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy specialist team in an efficient and effective way within a fast and pressurised environment.Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy within the Specialist Team holding responsibility for defined projectsWork alongside the Therapy Lead / Therapy Clinical Team Leader to develop links between the specialist Therapy team and relevant CBUs and Divisions within UHL.Ensure the training and development of staff within the Therapy speciality TeamLiaise with colleagues and work across site/cross specialty if appropriate in order to ensure the provision of a seamless equitable serviceDeputise for the Therapy Clinical Team Leader as appropriateDevelop the evidence base for practice through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activityAssist and support the Therapy management team and Therapy Leads and Therapy Clinical Team Leaders within the service in the improvement and transformation of Therapy services Person Specification
