About the Support Worker
role:


As a
Support Worker in a high support MH service, you will work with the rest of the team in supporting our customers to achieve their recovery goals.

You will need to have a good understanding of mental health, either through work or lifeexperience, demonstrate the values that you will need to work with this sometimes challenging client group and to have the confidence once inducted to lone work.


Our Islington Mental Health services are high support MH services that is staffed 24/7, support staff are on site from 8am until 10pm and security or night staff are there 10pm-8am.

The customers all have a significant and enduring mental health diagnosis.

What we're looking for in our Support Worker:

  • Empathy and the right values to work with a vulnerable client group
  • Experience working with customers in a recovery focused and trauma informed way
  • Flexible and reliable the rota is a 7 day a week shift pattern between 8am10pm including bank holidays and weekends
  • The ability to travel to and from work on a shift pattern
  • The ability to work with a client group that has a forensic/ offending history and can be challenging as well as rewarding
  • The ability to accept and work with changes and to know when to adjust your approach to meet the needs of the customers
  • The ability to use technology such as MS teams, WhatsApp and Zoom
  • The ability to use basic IT such as Outlook and Word and learn to use our in house systems.
  • Comfortable supporting customers by supervising or prompting medication
  • The ability and confidence to lone work at times

Responsibilities as our Support Worker:

  • You will be allocated a caseload to keywork, you will also be expected to complete admin tasks such as updating the internal systems with notes, completing risk/need assessments and supporting customers to attend meetings
  • Communicating with external services and internal teams, following up on actions, completing incident reports, raising safeguarding cases as required and supporting customers with Assisted Daily Living and tenancy management
  • Monitoring H&S and repairs and with the tasks related to assessing new referrals to the service
