Overview
Lancashire Women have delivered resettlement interventions for women in
HMP Styal for two years. We take a holistic approach to our support services within the prison.

The role will require someone to maintain the solid links that we have within the prison and external organisations.

The post holder will be required to deliver a range of interventions to support women preparing for release from prison, to support their reintegration into the community.


This is the first stage of their journey with Lancashire Women and is a crucial role to support the women we work with.

It means full involvement within the prison, delivering groups and advocating for our women to ensure that we achieve the best possible outcomes.


This role will requires the post holder to pass enhanced HMPS prison vetting.

Duties & Responsibility

Plan/deliver individual support and resettlement packages for women, ensure successful delivery of plans through LW support/ partnerships;

Work directly with Probation/prison staff to facilitate resettlement planning.

Manage a caseload of female clients that have multiple and complex needs providing 1-1 and group work support within a prison setting.

Support clients using a trauma-informed approach to sustain re
- integration and independence in the community and reduce the likelihood of reoffending.

Prepare and maintain appropriate client records using relevant data capture systems (Views, Nomis, Refer and Monitor etc).

Manage safeguarding and risk in a timely manner, recording and reporting concerns.

Lead on ensuring a quality service is delivered for Service Users in their designated Service Category, keep up-to-date with developments, provide training to other staff, support difficult cases, and lead on building relationships within the prison.

Participate in organisational activities for example, team meetings, development days, etc.

Establish strong links with other prisons to ensure that women from
Lancashire can be supported remotely prior to release.

Ensure that required standards of health and safety are maintained. and support other team members as needed.

Treat all staff, volunteers and service users fairly

Uphold the policies and ethos of Lancashire Women at all times.

Criteria Essential Desirable Assessment_

2 Years' experience working with Service Users with multiple & complex needs or CJS/Mental Health/Social work related qualification A

A good standard of education and interpersonal skills A/I
Knowledge/experience supporting women with multiple/complex needs on release from custody including duty-to-refer requirements, liaising with authorities. A/I

Experience of partnership/multi-agency working to meet needs of clients and the organisation A/I

Ability to build relationships with partners and statutory agencies that advocate on behalf of Women Service Users I

Experience of client assessment, action planning and risk assessment, and recording/sharing information A/I

Expertise to deliver Services using a Trauma-Informed Approach and
Trauma-Responsive Approach A/I

Skills in facilitating conversations that emphasise future orientation and self-efficacy A/I

Experience supervising volunteers/ mentors A/I
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to establish, develop and manage effective relationships I

Knowledge of safeguarding and related processes including indications of Risk of Serious Harm A/I

Knowledge of the benefits system A/I

Good level of IT competency

Administrative & organisational skills A/I

Ability to work on own initiative

Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

Driving Licence and use of a vehicle due to remote location

Either experience of working in housing or a qualification.
