JOB TITLE: Software Engineer at Microsoft Azure - Confidential Computing Team


Microsoft Azure has been at the forefront of revolutionizing and implementing confidential computing (CC) technology, enhancing security for cloud workloads. Our goal is to evolve Azure Cloud into the Azure Confidential Cloud, providing the industry the shift from computing openly to computing securely, both in the cloud and at the edge.

As a Software Engineer, your primary duties will entail designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting features for confidential compute, aiding Azure clients in achieving optimal privacy and security levels. You will contribute by delivering cutting-edge technology and solutions that safeguard their data in use, complementing Azure's existing data protection measures at rest and in transit. This role presents the opportunity to deepen your expertise in cloud infrastructure, operating the cloud at scale, and technologies reinforcing cloud security. Additionally, you will have the flexibility to work partially from home.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a relevant technical field, coupled with demonstrated proficiency in coding languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Other Requirements:

  • Compliance with Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening prerequisites is essential, including specialized security screenings like the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Additional/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing services on cloud infrastructure and utilizing cloud-native technologies, such as containers.
  • Knowledge of cloud and data center security.
  • Proficiency in Linux and contributing to Open-Source Software (OSS) projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to discern user requirements for a feature.
  • Support the identification of dependencies and draft design documents for a product feature under supervision.
  • Learn to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature with guidance, leveraging existing code where applicable.
  • Aid in breaking down work items into tasks and provide estimations.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product features/services, recommending actions to address downtime or interruptions as per guidelines.
  • Stay updated on recent developments, proactively seeking new insights to enhance product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance, while ensuring operational consistency at scale.
