Who are we looking for?
We arekeen to speak to people with experience in transport planning and working aspart of a wider team of professionals to help deliver schemes through theplanning process. Your current job title is not so important, but you arelikely to have been a graduate in a related subject, and gained a number ofyears' experience already working in the industry during which time you willhave acquired comprehensive knowledge of the Transport Assessment process and allthat entails. Above all though we would like to hear from people with a passionfor what they do.
What can you expect fromthe role?
You canexpect to work on and lead a wide variety of projects across all sectors aroundthe south-west region and further afield. To give you a flavour, we arecurrently working on:
· Major mixed-use urbanextensions in Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset
· Urban regeneration schemes inPlymouth, Exeter and Bristol.
· Delivery of new employmentland in Exeter and Teignbridge.
· Leisure and tourism schemes acrossthe south west.
· Renewable energy facilities inDevon, Dorset and Jersey
· Proposals for a new trunk roadservice area
· Affordable housing and localemployment sites to support the rural
economy at various sites across the region.
· Project support for charitiesoperating in the development industry
· And many many more...
We are looking forsomebody to help deliver the highways and transport inputs on projects likethese, with support from senior colleagues and our wider team of transportplanners, engineers and technicians. You would also work closely with specialistsin AWP's Flood Risk and Development Infrastructure teams, collaborating todeliver for our clients in line with agreed program and budgets.
What would it be like working for AWP?
AWP has ateam of over 40 engineers, transport planners and technicians, and we believethis makes us the largest team specialising in our field of the industryoperating in the region. We all have ties with Devon and the Exeter area, andwe are very proud to be a part of the dynamic community in the city.
Thesouth-west region is beautiful and truly a wonderful pace to live and work. Themain urban hubs of Exeter, Plymouth and Bristol are all university cities, withvibrant cultural and leisure scenes. However, the peninsular is also home tosome of the most diverse and spectacular countryside, including the Dartmoorand Exmoor National Parks, South Hams and East Devon Areas of Outstanding NaturalBeauty, the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, and some world famous surfingbeaches on the North Devon Coast.
We arebased at our office at Pynes Hill in Exeter, which has easy access to local residentialareas by foot, the city wide cycle network, as well as bus and rail linksinto the city centre and out into East Devon. It is also very handy for the M5and A30.
Our officehas desk space for everybody, as well as numerous meeting rooms and break-outspace for collaboration with colleagues. However, we embrace the opportunitiesof Agile Working and the advantages that can offer in terms of work-lifebalance, and we are fully set up for remote home working as well.
