Job summary

Are you an experienced Neonatal Nurse?

We have vacancies in Scarborough site for staff with proven leadership skills and experience. These roles are to work across site with hours to be negotiated for the right candidate for part and full time options.

We have 8 cots on a Level 1 Special Care Unit in Scarborough and 15 cots on a Level 2 Neonatal Unit in York. We provide transitional care and have an established outreach team that support discharge, and are developing home tube feeding and support of babies with jaundice and work closely with the unit staff.

We have a Neonatal Nurse Educator who works cross site and who is actively involved in developing and standardising safe, high quality care. A monthly nurse led journal club is newly implemented as a result of GIRFT review. We have full engagement with the regional Yorkshire and Humber Neonatal ODN and follow BAPM guidance for staffing and safe care delivery for both units.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have responsibility for the safe and effective management of the unit, providing management and professional leadership for the nursing post holder is responsible for ensuring the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care are maintained to a high standard. Managing the administrative and financial aspects of the unit. The post holder will ensure cost effective use of successful candidate will lead by example, be part of the wider Band 7 nursing team in child health and feed into the quality and governance meetings support by Matron.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

oRegistered Nurse (Level 1) oQualification in speciality (Neonates/ENB 405 or Equivalent) oRecognised teaching/assessing qualification oEvidence of continued professional development oWilling to undergo training as necessary

Desirable

oDegree in Nursing or Related subject

Experience and Knowledge Required

oAt least 18 months recent experience at management level or equivalent within a neonatal environment oExperience of managing and leading a team oBudget management oAudit & Standard setting oClinical leadership
