The Resourcing Hub are currently recruiting for a Residential Child Care Officer to join our client's new home in the Sunderland area It's a new home due to open so this is a very exciting opportunity


36 or 48 hour contract, flexible with shifts covering 7 days a week day and night (Unless youjust want waking night then we would agree this) Current £10.20 per hour plus sleep in allowance £54.

28 days holiday, free use of a local hotel gym / spa and occasional vouchers as a thank you.

Disclosure & Barring Service - For this post you will be required to complete a full DBS check and then register for the online update service

Relationships:

The post holder will be accountable to the Managing Director.

The Homes Managers will be responsible for all staff working within or from the Children's Home as Identified by the Director.


Description of Role:


To actively promote the rights of young people as individuals and provide them with quality care in accordance with the policies and procedures.

To assist in the provision of a safe and homely environment both individually and as part of a team to help young people with emotional, behavioural difficulties and learning disabilities achieve their full potential by strengthening areas of weakness and developing areas of strength.

The ability to maintain confidentiality of client information is also important.

Key Responsibilities

1.Care Planning

To help achieve the outlined outcomes for each young person as detailed in their care plan and as agreed with the manager.

To work with the young person with the planning for now, in the future and for when leaving care.

2.Safeguarding

To promote every young person's rights, safeguarding their welfare and providing good quality care. Protect young people from harm and enable them to keep themselves safe.

3.Partnership working

To promote the practise of working in partnership with young people, their families, social workers and other service providers in order to meet the needs of the young people.

4.Professional & Good

Practice

Make sure that all your work is in keeping with company policies and procedures, legislation and good practice. All staff must be accountable for their own tasks and responsibilities.

5.Team work

To communicate fully and professionally with your colleagues and to be full team player.

6.Administration

To ensure all paperwork and documentation is completed to a high standard as per your roles and responsibilities

Key Duties

1. Care Planning


1.1- To promote a positive and healthy lifestyle for each young person to enable them to a have the opportunities to achieve their full potential.

1.2- Any significant behaviour changes must be observed carefully and recorded appropriately. Every chance must be given for the young people to talk about situations.


1.3- To attend staff meetings, to contribute to the planning of care and to put forward your views for review meetings.

1.4- Appropriate boundaries must be put in place to help them manage their own behaviour.

1.5- To attend to each young person's physical needs i.e.

cooking, washing, ironing, shopping, budgeting, and also encouraging the young people to do the above tasks for themselves where appropriate.

1.6- To promote the rights and responsibilities of each young person as within our policies and procedures.

2. Safeguarding


2.1- To protect the young people and to be aware of any situations or signs that may be a sign of abuse or neglect.


2.2- Ensure children and young people are protected from harm and enable them to keep themselves safe both inside and outside of the home.

2.3- Ensure that the emotional, mental and physical health and well-being needs of children are met


2.4- To report to the manager or other appropriate person of any suspicion of mal-practice or evidence of bad practice (whistle blowing).
