Aims and Purpose of the Job

  • To provide leadership and engagement of the staff team at the College's Riseholme Campus
  • To provide leadership, development and direction of the curriculum and associated teaching and learning at the Riseholme Campus
  • To ensure high quality learning takes place through effective curriculum delivery models that maximise student success
  • To lead on planning and delivery of AEB across the college

Specific Accountabilities

Leadership and Management

  • To lead the teaching and learning provision at the Riseholme Campus
  • Have direct responsibility for management and operational staff associated with curriculum delivery
  • Lead change management within academic areas
  • Ensure the College delivers to relevant contracts
  • Promote and role model effective communication that addresses the needs of all staff and achieves effective team working
  • Provide positive leadership by creating a dynamic, supportive and innovative environment that encourages commitment to the College and the achievement of high standards of performance
  • To ensure high standards of student behaviour and develop student resilience

Strategy and Policy

  • Support and develop the strategic and operational agenda of the College
  • Lead policy development and present recommendations to the College Strategic Leadership Group in respect of relevant strategic and operational matters
  • To support the development of the College curriculum strategy in relation to students and adults in line with the College strategic plan, ensuring high quality performance during implementation, to take a strategic role on curriculum developments across the College.
  • To develop strategies in terms of curriculum development, planning, and review processes across the identified areas of responsibility, which meet the needs of all stakeholders.
  • To identify market needs and increase demand for programmes in line with development plans.

Curriculum

  • Ensure the development and implementation of all aspects of curriculum planning and modelling including oversight of all aspects of delivery
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of developments and best practice and provide professional advice to the Principal and Deputy Principal on all issues.
  • Develop key performance indicators, risk registers and risk management action plans, selfassessment reports and quality assessment processes that enable the effectiveness of activities and functions to be monitored, reviewed and revised.
  • To ensure the College is aware of and quickly adapts to all national curriculum developments and priorities.
  • To ensure that teaching practice draws on new approaches and learning technologies to improve success rates and enhance student experience.
  • To plan, operate and monitor an innovative and flexible curriculum mix that effectively meets the market demand within funding and income constraints
  • To develop a strong identity and purpose within curriculum areas which appeals strongly to students and which also meets their learning and assessment needs
  • To lead the annual cycle of curriculum and resource planning
  • To identify staff training and development needs and support the delivery of appropriate staff development interventions.
  • To promote best practice in equality and diversity within all curriculum areas, ensuring action is taken where necessary to address underachievement by different student groups.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all including the wellbeing of all students with particular reference to those under 18 years old and to vulnerable adults.
  • To promote the College's involvement with the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (IoT) ensuring recruitment to the IoT programmes and the success of students whom are part of the IoT.
  • To drive the educational standards within our IoT.

Quality

  • To support the Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal Quality & Standards in the strategic development and implementation of the College's Quality Strategy
  • To take a lead role in developing a culture of continuous improvement and striving for excellence within the Riseholme campus
  • To ensure that quality frameworks and systems are implemented effectively and efficiently across curriculum areas
  • To provide effective leadership and management of the Self Assessment procedures to ensure they are accurate, timely and have appropriate innovative actions that lead to continuous improvement and self regulatory status
  • To be proactive in the early diagnosis of potential quality issues, to implement strategies for improvement and monitor and report on their impact
  • Develop initiatives to improve teaching and learning skills, success rates and tutorials.
