Complex SEND Teaching Assistant

We are looking to appoint a Complex SEND Teaching Assistant who really cares about helping students to succeed.

We are looking for someone who is kind, reliable and has a passion for working in the classroom or one to one, is enthusiastic and builds rapport well with staff and students alike.

To be successful in this role, you will have knowledge of current practices on supporting children's learning and behaviour management strategies, as well as a good understanding of areas of learning such as literacy, numeracy and science. You will hold an NVQ for Teaching Assistants or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.

Under the direction of teaching staff and the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo, the Complex SEND Teaching Assistant will utilise specialist knowledge and experience to provide support in addressing the needs of pupils who need help overcoming barriers to learning.

In your capacity within the role, you will support SEND students with an EHCP and/or inclusion funding, if appropriate, helping them to overcome barriers to learning whilst accessing provision within our personalised learning centre and mainstream lessons. You will provide 1:1 mentoring for students and support for distressed pupils under the guidance of the teachers/SENDCo, and you will also lead interventions to provide support to students in relation to their individual needs.

The successful candidate will hold Maths and English GCSE grade 4 or equivalent, as well as an NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or a recognised equivalent qualification and experience working with students with SEND. You will serve in the best interests of the pupils by providing a supportive culture where pupils experience a positive and enriching school environment. You will remain calm and focused and act with integrity at all times whilst promoting a culture and practices that enable all pupils to access the curriculum.

In this role, you will work 37 hours per week, 39 working weeks, term time plus INSET.
