Job Description:

Our client produces over 3 million tonnes of acid and a range of derivatives per annum from 8 manufacturing locations across the globe.

This role is located at their manufacturing base in Hull and is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer due to internal promotion.

The Mechanical Engineer provides engineering expertise and assurance in support of safe and reliable operations, growth projects, and new technology development

Responsibilities include:
# Providing Mechanical Engineering and discipline leadership for 26 sites worldwide with a combined gross acid/anhydride margin of
#$500M.
# Offering day-to-day advice and onsite TAR support in mechanical design, specification, repair, maintenance, inspection, and reliability.
# Delivering engineering assurance to equipment-specific issues to improve availability at CO suppliers.
# Providing engineering advice and risk evaluation for breakdowns or loss of containment.
# Leading independent root cause analysis for complex failures.
# Establishing and maintaining contacts with material suppliers and equipment vendors.
# Managing external technical support and consultancy services as required.
# Supporting major projects including retrofit and new build opportunities to generate new value and income for the business.
# Participating in research activities involving laboratory scale and pilot plant studies.

Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering Science or appropriate engineering discipline.
Minimum of 5 years experience in Mechanical Engineering in a chemical manufacturing/oil and gas/pharmaceutical, steel, or power environment.
Proven track record of delivery and excellence in building collaborative relationships.
Experience in equipment specification, selection, and problem resolution for major capital projects.
Knowledge of technical practices, industry codes, and standards relevant to the Petrochemicals industry.
Experience in equipment design engineering, fabrication, inspection, maintenance, and repair.
Ability to advise on testing, analysis, and interpretation.
Root cause failure investigation skills related to engineering problems in the petrochemical environment.
Understanding of project processes and experience in major capital projects.
Appreciation of process, materials, and ICE engineering disciplines.
Experience of working in multidiscipline teams.
