We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join our wonderful team at our picturesque site based in Chorley

Location:
Chorley, Whittle-le-woods


Hours: 36.25 per week, Mon-Fri

Salary:
£28,000 per annum

The Health and Safety Officer will assist in the management, development and implementation of Health and Safety best practice, ensuring the organisation complies with current Health and Safety regulation and relevant legislation.


DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Advising on matters relating to Health & Safety at work, including the obligations and responsibilities of managers and employees; and provide comprehensive and practical advice to line managers on best practice.
  • To facilitate and deliver a range of health and safety training interventions including classroom courses to new and existing employees of the service in line with current legislation and BOC health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assisting the Regional Health and Safety Manager in the implementation and promotion of a Health and safety culture across the Service through the provision and development of Health and safety policies and procedures, and to ensure the service meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work statement of the Brothers of Charity services
  • Keeping up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is essential
  • Full driving license with use of a car is essential
  • Previous experience of conducting audits, risk assessments, accident investigations and RIDDOR reporting.
  • A thorough understanding of Health and Safety management, and legislative requirements
  • The ability to work on own initiative with mínimal supervision and direction
  • Must be able to work flexibly (some evening and weekend work may be required)
