Syncord Ltd are currently representing a Joinery and Timber specialist who are part of a large reputable main contractor based in Leeds. Due to growth they are now recruiting a Joinery Workshop Foreman to join their team.

We are a well-established joinery company with a reputation for delivering high-quality, bespoke joinery products. We are currently seeking an experienced Joinery Workshop Foreman to join our dynamic team.


The Role:

As a Joinery Workshop Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our workshop, ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standard and within the agreed time frame.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The applicant needs to have a good knowledge of fire doors, bespoke joinery, timber frames, and a good attention to detail, working with both hand and power tools.
  • You will need to have a good working knowledge of traditional woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools. You would be working with MDF, laminates, veneered boards, softwoods/hardwoods etc.
  • Overseeing the production process, from initial design to final product.
  • Ensuring that all machinery is maintained and operated safely.
  • Training and supervising staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Liaising with clients and suppliers as necessary.
  • Chase planners / contracts manager / site managers, for project information to keep a flow of work through the joiner's shop and to suit site programmes.
  • Maintain the small job list, and distribute to accounts, wages etc.
  • Offer design input for MBC and MCWY projects and tenders.
  • Schedule and issue workload for the joiner's shop.
  • Schedule material deliveries to the joiner's shop and arrange for unloading and storage.
  • Schedule cleaning and repair operations for the joiner's shop and yard when required.
  • Organise transport / deliveries to site for all finished joinery items.
  • Check joiner's times sheets are accurate and job card numbers are correct on the daily and weekly time sheets before scanning and forwarding to wages every Friday Afternoon.
  • Issue programme and workload reports for Joiners Shop and Site fixing teams.
  • Deal with alarm issues re-setting etc.


Skills & Experience:

  • Have a bench hand joinery qualification.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role within the joinery industry
  • Proficient in the use of traditional joinery techniques
  • Familiarity with a range of woodworking machinery and tools
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality
