About Technology Operations
The Delivery team installs all Ocado Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, to provide our clients with an Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) that ensures they can deliver their retail customer promises every day.
As a dedicated and proactive member of the finance team, you will directly provide strong and effective support to business partners within the Delivery teams and have responsibilities covering CFC Capex project spend.
This is a high profile
Assistant Finance Analyst role working with our key stakeholders, with the accountability to support the business, including the provision of insight and analysis to support decisions, preparation of budgeting and forecasting and management information.
What else will you be doing?
- Build strong working relationships within the finance team and key stakeholders in the business.
- Review of Purchase Orders and agreeing completion percentages with business partners in preparation for creating period end accrual journals. Ensure all accruals are accurate and reflect reality of site operations/progression.
- Produce period end capex reports, working closely with the FBP to analyse and identify reasons behind variances in time for period end reviews.
- Play an active role in producing the annual budget and interim forecasts by preparing relevant packs and information to be used in senior stakeholder presentations within both finance and the wider business.
- Support the Periodic Budget Reviews with the Project Managers and Project Controllers.
- Complete change requests in a timely order ensuring projects have sufficient budget to raise PO's without holding up progress on site.
- Demonstrate commercial understanding of the Ocado business, considering both financial and operational metrics, to support the preparation and development of timely & relevant management information, insight and ad hoc analysis to support performance tracking against budgets & forecasts.
- Develop a detailed understanding of cost drivers to identify risks and opportunities and highlight areas requiring focus.
- Support with capital spend approval requests, ensuring phasing of capex is accurate and in line with project expectations.
- Work with teams in different disciplines to identify, recommend & help implement improvements to business processes and financial controls to increase efficiency and ensure all costs are recorded accurately.
- Participate in the Year End / Half Year Audit process as required.
About you
Desired skills & experience required
- Studying towards/Part Qualified ( ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong academic record
- Experience of reporting period management accounts, analysis and commentary
- Experience of budgeting and forecasting
- Experience of business partnering with stakeholders outside of finance
- Advanced Excel skills with experience of mainstream accounting packages & knowledge of Google suite preferable (Google Sheets/Docs)
