The Role and Department

Dynamic and vibrant, Durham University Business School is one of Durham University's four Faculties and is comprised of four research-intensive departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Management and Marketing. The Faculty of Business with a centralised Learning and Teaching team that support four academic departments seek a Learning and Teaching Manager. This exciting role will manage the delivery of the DBA programmes, aligning activities to meet operational objectives from the point of admissions through to graduation.This role is part time, working 28 hours per week.

The Learning and Teaching Manager will be part of the MBA/DBA Learning and Teaching administrative leadership team and will, along with the Senior Learning and Teaching Manager and other Learning and Teaching Managers, work flexibly to support this management team as required. The postholder will work towards enhancing the quality of existing programmes, contributing towards reviews and evaluation for the purposes of continual improvement. They will work with colleagues and international partners to inform planning and developments in line with strategy and mission statements, implementing new programmes and initiatives.

The Learning and Teaching Manager will manage a team of professional service staff, ensuring the provision of an efficient administrative service, supporting a wide range of teaching, learning and assessment activities from the point of student enrolment through to graduation, ensuring the student experience is at the forefront of delivery. The teamwill provide student support including resolving queries and providing information on academic and welfare-related issues, making referrals to other staff, teams and services where appropriate, and escalating more specialist and complex queries or issues, as required.

The post holder will work closely with the Learning and Teaching Management team, the Associate Dean for the DBA programmes, Directors of Education, Programme Directors and Chair's of Boards of Examiners. They are also required to build and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of people, including staff in the Faculty and partner organisations to develop a deep understanding of Faculty and University policy and developments.

1. Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.

2. Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience).
