The Company:
nWe are currently working with a leading Marine Pollution company who respond to oil or chemical spills worldwide. Their highly skilled international team are ready to assist 24 hours a day and provide vast technical advice.

The Role:

nThis role involves emergency response and attending on site oil and chemical spills globally, providing advice to international parties including governments.

You will be involved in assessing compensation claims, regular presentations and organising workshops as part of the companies education work.


Duties include:


nProviding advice and effective response strategies and methods to alleviate damagenUndertaking aerial reconnaissance and boat / shoreline surveys to report oil movement etc.nMonitoring response operation and investigating damage to environmentnRecording and reporting findings efficientlynLiaising with all parties including ship owners, insurers, case handlers, government etc.

nCarry the 24-hour emergency pager when requirednInvestigate the scientific, technical and financial aspects of alleged damage to economic resources and the environmentnPrepare claim assessments and reportsnAdvise government authorities and shipping / oil organizations on preparedness and responsenUndertake studies on preparedness for international organisationsnProvide presentations, written papers, external training and courses for all levels of personnel involvednMaintain awareness of developments in oil spill response techniques

Requirements:
nA higher degree in a relevant scientific, engineering or marine pollution related subjectnRelevant previous working or research experience and evidence of applying scientific principles and trainingnWorking experience of travelling under demanding circumstances and working long hoursnFull UK / European driving license (manual)nConfident, with a professional and patient manner with strong interpersonal skillsnExcellent verbal communication skills to deliver complex technical messages clearlynCompetent swimmernWilling to be available on a continuous basis 24/7 throughout the year and to travel extensively sometimes with only a few hours notice to anywhere in the worldnFluency in another language is beneficial but not essential
