About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our client's team.

This role involves producing engineering solutions, conducting calculations and analysis, and collaborating with project teams to achieve coordinated engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions with supporting calculations and analysis using Autodesk Robot or manual methods for conceptual and detailed projects.
  • Specify member, component, weld sizes, and materials according to required analysis standards. Prepare written specifications.
  • Review drawings and calculations by others, ensuring their accuracy and fitness for purpose.
  • Coordinate with project team members to achieve defined objectives.
  • Represent design at meetings with internal project teams, external clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare or inform project documentation, including project plans, design risk assessments, structural reports, mechanical calculations, inspection and test plans, RAMS, temporary works designs, installation plans, lifting plans, and technical files.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to verify installations.
Requirements

Essential:

  • General education including 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
  • Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Understanding of the design process and associated documentation.
  • Extensive knowledge of British Standards and Design Regulations.
  • Extensive experience in designing and detailing mechanical structural steel and timber.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and commitment to work.
  • Highly organized, able to work flexibly, under pressure, and to tight deadlines.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, particularly during busy periods.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting other areas of the department as needed.
  • Openness to adopting new ways of working and making improvements.
  • Strong structural calculations and methodical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (preferably Autodesk Robot and Autodesk Nastran).
  • Ability to create technical drawings to BS 8888 or other professional standards.
  • Experience in drafting and modeling in Autodesk Inventor in a professional setting.
  • Effective communication skills with a wide range of people.
  • Experience in checking the work of peers (designs, drawings, calculations, models, etc.).

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Extensive experience using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Vault, Revit, and/or AutoCAD in a professional setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience and experience leading a design team.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness.
