Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a registered mental health or paediatric nurse to join the CYP Community Eating Disorders Team. We are looking for a nurse who is passionate about eating disorders, disordered eating and ARFID to join our service to offer additional assessment and support to children and young people that require admission to our local paediatric beds.

The role is diverse and requires the successful applicant to have a strong understanding of the physical and emotional risks of poor nutrition . The role is primarily to support children, young people and their carers who require an acute admission. The role is also to support colleagues in the acute hospitals support young people who require our service involvement.

Another important aspect of the role is to triage all referrals to the service, ensuring timely access to services following NHS England access & waiting guidelines, this requires knowledge of the associated risks for young people accessing our services.

Main duties of the job

Attend paediatric wards daily when young people from the service are admitted, offering assessment and support. Providing care plans and intervention. Supporting young people with therapeutic intervention until allocated a therapist.

Screening and triage of all service referrals meeting the NHS England access & waiting times.

Deliver training to the acute providers.

Provide consultation to colleagues in the wider services that support children and young people.
