The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidy appearance of the kitchen.

Being organised throughout the shift, recognising when stocks are low and need replenishing and communicating well with the Kitchen Manager.

To ensure that all food preparation, storage and equipment is in good working order and informing management of any faults or equipment that needs repairing/replacement.

Due to the nature of the business, the role-holder must have the ability to work weekend shifts Friday to Sunday, on a flexible basis.


Role Competencies:

  • Collecting and washing of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils, ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and tidy
  • Cleaning of all kitchen areas and equipment, keeping the area sanitised
  • Removal of kitchen waste
  • Receiving, unloading, unpacking and sorting deliveries of food and supplies
  • Work within strict timelines
  • Be able to use initiative and handle pressure situations
  • Ability to work as part of, and, communicate effectively within a team
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Comply with health and safety and food safety legislation
  • It is essential to have excellent customer service skills
  • A good level of English; spoken and written
  • Close down kitchens at the end of shifts to a high standard
  • To ensure all company policies are adhered with
  • Any reasonable management request to support the overall function

Essential (E) & Desirable (D) Job Criteria:
Training can be provided, however good customer service skills are essential to this role.
A basic understanding of COSHH (D)
Level 2 in food safety (D)
Previous kitchen experience (D)
