The Faculty of Human, Social and Political Science IT team are recruiting a Chief IT Technician to work as part of the Front-line IT Services Team.The Chief IT Technician will help provide local, friendly, and effective first and second line support to all the Departments we support in our City Centre institutions. Responsible for resolving a broad range of IT service requests, being the first point of escalation within the team for technical issues, you will ensure that end-user support requests are triaged, resolved, or escalated as required.
As an experienced IT technician, you will also be first technical contact for in-house systems for Front Line Services, liaising with the Development and Infrastructure team to maintain, manage and develop these systems.

We are seeking someone with the following:

Qualifications:

  • Educated to A level standard or with equivalent understanding and skills.

Experience:

Strong customer service skills and experience.

Understanding of Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS Clients.

A good, up to date, working knowledge of current computer hardware.

Experience of scripting and coding in at least one language (e.g. PowerShell, Python, PHP etc.)

An understand of Lean and Agile working methodology, ideally with practical application in the workplace.

Experience of Microsoft SharePoint would be advantageous.

Be able to communicate clearly on a wide range of technical issues with people at all levels and enjoy helping people with their problem or request.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
