Dunbar Education are currently working with an independent school who are now seeking a Secondary School Computer Science Teacher to join their team from September

This School was established in the conviction that there exists an opportunity for a different kind of independent secondary school in London - academically demanding but with a forward-thinking approach to selection criteria, the flexibility of the curriculum, the shape of the school day, and recognition of creativity and talent.

A character-selective school, they pride themselves on the support and care they extend to their 600 pupils whilst striving to add value to their success in all fields of academia, sport, and creativity.

The School has successfully grown over ten years since its foundation and was recently awarded the ISI "Excellent" grading.

Facilities


They have an excellent IT Operations Team who are always willing to help and work with the Computing Department to meet rapidly changing requirements.

The IT infrastructure includes a fibre broadband connection, cloud-based services (SaaS), Office 365, and Frog virtual learning environment.

The air-conditioned IT lab has high-end desktop PCs, along with its own server (HP ProLiant ML350), HP switch, and patch panel to create a local VLAN to use for website testing/hosting and networking.

The lab is modelled on a Cisco networking learning environment and has a SMART (4K) interactive whiteboard. Applications installed on the network include Python (IDLE), Small Basic, VB.Net, Virtual Box, and Hyper-V.

The latest Microsoft Office 365 is also installed, and all teachers can have a free copy which they can download on up to five devices at home.

There is a class set of Raspberry Pi computers, a Lego Mindstorms kit, and a number of MiroBot kits.


All pupils in KS3 benefit from a solid grounding in Computing, including knowledge of coding, software packages, e-safety, and problem solving.

Our GCSE programme commences in Year 9, with pupils beginning the groundwork for practical programming and developing an increased understanding of computing fundamentals (e.g. systems, hardware, software, and networking). The school's aim is to provide a rich and broad education to all pupils, whatever their specialism.

Whilst they aim to achieve the highest academic results for each pupil, they do not serve as an examination "factory".

Promote a love of computing for every pupil by delivering engaging and stimulating lessons which set appropriate learning expectations and targets for improvement
Have the capacity to raise attainment through motivating, challenging, and inspiring our pupils
Have experience or demonstrable understanding of the use of online platforms to support pupils' learning

Have the ability to teach coding in at least two traditional languages (JavaScript, Python/HTML, etc.) and a selection of visual languages (e.g.
