Job Description


AECOM's Town Planning Practice is recruiting Consultant Planners to help deliver our existing portfolio of projects and a pipeline of projects, across a range of sectors, principally delivering large scale infrastructure.


As a national team, we are flexible in terms of base office location across our offices in Basingstoke, Bristol, Croydon and Birmingham.

You will be able to work on a range of prestigious infrastructure projects for our clients in the energy transition, rail and water development sectors, as well as a range of regional and local developments.

AECOM is a market leader in UK infrastructure development, with experience of over 70 DCO projects.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be joining a market leading, experienced infrastructure planning team and will, be given the following responsibilities.

Assisting in the management and successful delivery of major development applications including coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across various project types.

Providing planning advice to colleagues and clients including the application of permitted development rights.

Carrying out planning research and analysis and assist with the identification of planning risk.

Writing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for development applications.

Liaising with the Environmental Impact Assessment team.

Contribution to the preparation of successful commercial tenders.

Assisting with project management and implementing quality and health and safety principles.

Participating in internal and external meetings.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Licentiate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional town planning organisation and working towards full accreditation.

Demonstrable experience of working on major planning applications.

Commercial awareness and the ability to write clearly and concisely.

Sound knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation.

Client focused with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach with a high level of commitment to quality.

Able to work to tight deadlines.

Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience of working on Development Consent Order and/or Transport and Works Act Order applications.

An understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment legislation.

Experience of working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams.

Identifying, evaluating and managing planning risk.

Consultancy experience understanding monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes.
