Senior/Principal Civil Engineer - Bridges

Job Title – Senior/Principal Civil Engineer

Location – Glasgow

Job Type – Permanent

Our client is looking for a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer to join their Rail & Civils team in the vibrant city of Glasgow.

The portfolio of work includes a variety of projects including rail station footbridges, road bridges, coastal defences, and large-scale UK wide infrastructure projects.

The role requires someone who can take responsibility for their own work and is prepared to apply themselves to a range of projects drawing on their own experiences and support from the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare calculations and documentation for engineering projects
  • Liaise with other members of the design team to achieve a co-ordinated design
  • Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages including finite element analysis such as LUSAS or Midas
  • Develop design and co-ordination skills to progress as an Engineer
  • Undertake client relationship management
  • Taking a lead role in the resolution of technical issues
  • Degree in civil engineering, or equivalent
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent Substantial structural design experience within the bridges sector and in a consultancy environment
  • Have previous relevant site experience including supervision of elements of large, complex bridge engineering projects
  • Excellent communication skills including technical written English
  • Experience preparing design deliverables using civil engineering design software packages
  • Hybrid working – 3 days in the office
