Job Description

Turner & Townsend alinea is on the lookout for a Senior Cost Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor in London to join our Healthteam focusing on significant fit out and development projects for Health projects in various organizations, both in the public and private sectors.

JOB OBJECTIVES:

Senior Cost Managers oversee projects of various sizes, ranging from £1m to over £300m, based on project complexity.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • Lead the role of Senior Cost Manager, ensuring end-to-end service delivery
  • Ensure client objectives are met by providing effective cost management from pre-contract to handover

KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the healthcare sector (public and private), especially in acute hospitals throughout the project lifecycle
  • Experience in healthcare master planning/strategic estate development and capital cost planning
  • Experience in P21+/P22 cost advisory roles, covering various project types and stages
  • Proficiency in Two-Stage Tender agreements with strong negotiation skills
  • Detailed experience with JCT and NEC contracts, with JCT contract administration exposure
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing roles within the NHS
  • Experience with CostX or similar measurement software

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Estimating and cost planning, including final cost plan preparation and presentation
  • Tendering and procuring, managing pre-qualification, tender list creation, tender analysis, and more
  • Handling post-contract cost variances and change control processes
  • Performing cost checks and valuations on projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Compiling monthly post-contract cost reports for clients
  • Negotiating and finalizing accounts
  • Collaborating with clients and consultants at all project stages
  • Leading junior team members as needed
Qualifications
  • Proven track record in delivering high-quality cost management/quantity surveying services across projects
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or equivalent) or working towards certification
  • Degree or HNC level qualification
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Preferred experience in health/healthcare projects
