Our client provides hostel accommodation and support for vulnerable service users and are recruiting for a
Deputy Accommodation Manager for their Wakefield based hostel.


Reporting to the Hostel Manager, as the
Deputy Accommodation Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Hostel Manager in managing the hostel effectively and sensitively for the benefit of their service users.

You will also be responsiblefor ensuring that the services are delivered in accordance with the company's standards, policies and procedures, and that the hostel is a safe environment and remains compliant at all times in line with their contractual and legal responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure staff resources and skills are allocated effectively to enable the efficient provision of contractual social welfare needs, catering, domestic and administrative services
  • Ensure that internal decorations, furniture and equipment are fit for purpose and maintained with contractual and legal requirements
  • Management of the housekeeping and catering staff
  • Ensure that the hostel has sufficient supplies
  • Monitor procedures to ensure that the service users are fully inducted into the hostel
  • Ensure that emergencies are dealt with efficiently, effectively and safely in line with our contractual obligations
  • Ensure that duty rotas, on call rotas and holiday rotas are appropriately maintained and procedures followed
  • Work shifts on the rota, including weekend working and oncall in order to maintain service delivery and links with staff and service users
  • Ensure that all requests to accommodate service users are responded to within the correct timeframes
  • Ensure all safeguarding issues are dealt with sensitively, timely and the service user is given the right support according to their needs
  • Ensure that the database is kept up to date and accurate
  • Ensure that the health and safety policy and procedures are always adhered to, and that health and safety issues are monitored effectively, undertaking risk assessments and compiling incident reports as required ensuring that the relevant person is notifiedwhere appropriate

Requirements:

  • Experience of managing and supervising staff
  • Experience managing a kitchen / housekeeping department would be highly desirable
  • Experience within a hostel / refuge/ hotel or similar environment would be desirable
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people, including dealing with safeguarding and wellbeing issues
  • Experience of monitoring standards and contributing to the development of service provision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record of dealing with people on all levels and from differing backgrounds/cultures
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to lead a team in a pressurised environment
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety and Hygiene legislation and regulations
  • It would be advantageous if you hold Social Care qualifications or have relevant experience
