Veterinary Head Nurse - North Tawton - Up to £35,000 per annumWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Head Nurse to join our dynamic team. The Veterinary Head Nurse will play a key leadership role in managing our nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, and fostering a positive work environment.Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the nursing team, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Patient Care: Oversee all aspects of patient care, including administering medications, monitoring anesthesia, and assisting with surgeries and procedures. Contribute to the on-call nurse rota.
- Client Communication: Communicate with clients regarding patient updates, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Equipment and Inventory Management: Maintain and organize medical supplies, equipment, and medications to ensure efficient operations.
- Staff Training: Develop and implement training programs for nursing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Clinical coach to a Student nurse, training given.
- Staff organisation of on-call rota and day to day responsibilities for the nursing team.
- Quality Control: Monitor and maintain high standards of care and cleanliness throughout the practice, including the branch surgeries.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with veterinarians and other staff members to provide comprehensive care for patients.
- Emergency Response: Assist during emergency situations, including triage, stabilization, and treatment.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete/oversee administrative duties such as record-keeping, insurance claims billing, and inventory management and stock control.
- Supervise anaesthetic monitoring and Radiography monitoring.
- Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and management through continuing education and professional development.
- Registered Veterinary Nurse: Certification as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or equivalent qualification.
- RPS training will be provided
- Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a veterinary clinic or hospital. Would be advantageous but could be a first step for someone with the support of the Directors.
- Clinical Skills: Proficient in all aspects of veterinary nursing, including anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, and medical treatments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, the whole team, and veterinarians.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassion: Demonstrate compassion and empathy for animals and their owners.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
