Cirencester, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

Hours per week - (Full time and part-time hours available)

An opportunity has arisen for highly motivated individuals to join our Community Hospital Nursing Team at Cirencester Community Hospital on our inpatient wards. We are looking for nurses with passion and commitment who hold patient experience and care at the heart of their nursing practice and share our organisational values. All of this will feature largely in our short-listing and selection criteria. In return we will offer you day to day support along with excellent training and a real commitment to your personal development plan with opportunities for continued professional development and study.

If you are newly qualified you will have plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and further your career here at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, you will also be allocated the preceptorship programme.

For the more experienced nurse, we will support you in your clinical and managerial development to become a more autonomous practitioner, by providing access to academic programs such as 'Physical Assessment and Clinical Reasoning'.

We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses.

Main duties of the job

Cirencester Community Hospital is at the heart of the local community with 49 beds over 2 wards. We are subacute medical and rehabilitation as well as end of life care. You will be able to work autonomously to provide high quality safe care to the inpatients working with a committed and integrated Multidisciplinary Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a cohesive team assisting patients in their rehabilitation journey.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to providing a high standard of patient care. We would expect commitment and flexibility and in return we offer a range of training and development opportunities to enhance your career.

As a Multidisciplinary approach to care you will have greater autonomy and ultimately gain more job satisfaction by giving the best patient service.

About us

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.

Our Staff Survey results showed people at our Trust feel they are engaged, part of a team and work for a compassionate and inclusive organisation.

Our overall scores were better than average in eight of nine themes and level in one - the best overall results for a community, mental health and learning disabilities Trust in the south west and first equal amongst all sector NHS providers within the region too.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Gloucestershire Health and Care is committed to embedding and providing personalised care through all of its services as part of our high-quality care strategy. The purpose of personalised care is to empower people to lead the lives they want to live. Personalised care starts with a conversation with people about what matters to them. It builds on what people can do, as well as addressing their health needs. Including new ways of working and delivering care, emphasising that we need to make effective use of the full range of our peoples skills and experience to deliver the best possible patient care. So we want to know What Matters to You and that you will share our values and join us on this very important journey.

We provide a Multi-professional preceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing and have been awarded the Interim quality mark from NHS England. Our programme is provided to all Newly Qualified; Nurses, Nursing Associates, Internationally Educated Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Return to Practice Practitioners. In addition to the programme we also offer all preceptees the opportunity of enrolling and completing the level 7 (Masters) 15 credit validated module Preceptorship for Healthcare (AP7026).

Newly qualified Social Workers are offered the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme (ASYE) which is similar to a preceptorship programme.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
