Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client in the consumer electronics industry is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer.


The role involves designing high-quality electromechanical products utilizing various types of parts such as injection-moulded, extruded, cast, and machined components, along with optics, electronics, and mechanisms.

The successful candidate will be involved in projects throughout the entire new product introduction process.


In this position, you will be hands-on in the design process, requiring creativity and proactive problem-solving skills to take charge and use your own initiative to address design and engineering challenges.

The role reports to the Design Manager.

Role:

  • Record design decisions and address associated technical risks;
  • Share and adopt effective practices to enhance skills and departmental operations continually;
  • Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, toolmakers, test facilities, internal assembly department, and a well-equipped machine shop;
  • Ensure that designs align with expected quality and performance standards;
  • Coordinate with project management to ensure adherence to the company's internal NPI process;
  • Develop technical documentation demonstrating compliance with CE requirements;
  • Stay updated on emerging digital technologies and subsystems;
  • Partner with procurement and suppliers to ensure designs meet budgetary constraints.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should hold a minimum degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design, or possess a significant proven track record;
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles;
  • A beneficial candidate will also have knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, PCB layout, and power needs for effective project management and product integration;
  • Familiarity with digital imaging technologies and optical design is a plus;
  • Experience in designing precise mechanical products with complex assemblies and mechanisms involving plastic and metal components; Previous experience in designing consumer electronics like mobile phones, telecom equipment, printers, and medical devices is advantageous;
  • Proficiency in tolerance analysis, design calculations, FEA, and BOM costs is necessary;
  • Proficient in 3D CAD systems, preferably with PTC Creo, but familiarity with other software will be considered;
  • Knowledge of relevant analytical tools is highly desirable.
