Overview:
Provide outstanding levels of customer service as the first point of contact for parents/visitors to the school, ensuring all are greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner.
Under the direction/instruction of senior staff:
provide routine general clerical, administrative, financial support to the school, always maintaining confidentiality.

Role and Responsibilities:
Undertake reception duties, answering routine telephone and face to face enquiries and signing in visitors, including providing basic hospitality
Assist with pupils looking after sick pupils, liaising with parents/staff, as directed etc.
Assisting with arrangements for visits by school nurse, photographer etc.
Maintain manual and computerised records/management information systems
Undertake typing, word-processing and other IT based tasks
Sort and distribute mail
Undertake routine administration e.g. registers/school meals
Produce lists/information/data as required e.g. pupils data
Maintain and collate pupil reports
Undertake routine administration of school lettings and other uses of school premises
Undertake ICT tasks within SIMS, as directed e.g. Attendance, Assessment Manager, etc
Operate office equipment e.g. photocopier, computer
Arrange orderly and secure storage of supplies
Undertake routine financial administration e.g. collect and record dinner money
Operate and record dinner money and all other school sales e. g. uniform, concert tickets, etc (all operations to be carried out in line with current LEA Financial Regulations)
Provide general advice and guidance to staff, pupils and others
Be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and young people.
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all
Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
Such other responsibilities allocated which are appropriate to the grade of the post
Required Skills:
Good numeracy / literacy skills
Basic IT Skills
Ability to use Microsoft packages as well as relevant IT equipment such as photocopiers, keyboard etc.
Good communication skills
Good customer service skills
Confident
Enhanced DBS - will be carried out when appointed
Dealing with sensitive info and keeping it confidential
Required Qualifications:
Maths, English and ICT, GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent
Training:
Maths and English to Level 2 required, if not already achieved
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour in relation to
- customer service principles and practices
- business principles
- technical competencies
- knowledge and understating
- research activities
- commercial awareness
- managing challenging situations and taking ownership
- health and safety
Ongoing assessment by the employer and provider - for example meetings with apprentice, employer and learning provider, observations of workplace, gathering evidence
Undertake a self-assessment in the last month of their apprenticeship to enable them to see whether they are confident that they have taken on board all aspects of the occupation.
This self-assessment must be submitted to the independent end point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for independent End Point Assessment which will include a showcase portfolio; a project; an employer reference and a structured interview about their portfolio and project.
Prospects:
The Apprentice will have achieved a Business Administration Level 3 qualification upon completion of the training and End Point Assessment.
