The NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is the largest and most successful research partnership between OUH and OU. Since it was first designated in , the BRC has been awarded more than £m for translational research and related activities. The BRC funds innovation across research themes and has a core team that supports researchers across these themes in a number of areas, including academic career development (ACD).

Main duties of the job

This is a senior support role within the BRC with a focus on building capacity in the health research workforce and developing the next generation of research leaders by supporting and coordinating research training opportunities for multi-professional researchers across the OUH, OU and NIHR research infrastructure. Training represents a key activity for NIHR, shaping the research and clinical workforce and ensuring that it has the right skill mix for the future.

The Academic Career Development (ACD) Project Manager is a key member of the BRC's and will work closely with other members of the BRC ACD team on developing and coordinating a strategic plan for research education for all the various professional groups across Oxford. The post holder will oversee the implementation of our overarching ACD vision and strategic direction, including coordinating effective day-to-day delivery and evaluation. They will have significant independence for driving this and will be encouraged to generate and pitch ideas.

The post holder will also be an active member of the Oxford Joint Research Office (JRO). The JRO was set up between OUH and OU over a decade ago and has expanded recently to include research support teams from Oxford Brookes University and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OH).

The role can be worked as a hybrid role, with in office and home working. We welcome discussions around flexible working.
