Job summary

To support the team leader in the nursing management of the complex care caseload this includes children on long term ventilation Invasive and Non invasive. This will include the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for children with complex health needs within the community.

There will be a responsibility within a self rostered rota to ensure support is provided to continuing care packages in flexible manner where required evenings weekends and bank holidays.

To support the team leader with operational line management of the team.

To assist in the training programme to ensure all team members are clinically competent and support wider learning across the Children's community nursing services. .

To support Children's Continuing Care Assessment and Review including Personal Health Budgets.

The post holder will demonstrate leadership and delegation skills to ensure holistic care is delivered. To take charge in the absence of the Team leader including day to day management of the senior care assistants and Nursing Associates

You must have a full clean driving license and access to a car as travel across the city is necessary.

Please note: 30 hour post available but full time would be considered for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

Due to new funding, We have opening for a Band 6 experienced children's nurse to join the community Children's Complex Care team.

The Complex care team provide care and support to children and young people with complex health needs in a variety of settings across Manchester.

As a Band 6 Children's Nurse, the successful applicant will support the band 7 Team Leader to manage the complex care team. You will take some responsibility for line managing and training the Band 3 support workers who work day and night shifts in the children's home. You will support the Team Leader with continuing care assessments and make recommendations following the Children's and Young People's Continuing Care Framework. You will also oversee the day to day nursing needs of the children on the caseload.

Experience of working with children with complex medical needs and having the ability to train colleagues, parents and other health / education professionals is essential.

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual who can work flexibly to meet the needs of the service that provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will be required to work some shifts to support training or to cover sickness or annual leave.

You will also be part of a wider integrated team providing palliative care and nursing care within the specialist schools. Therefore we can offer you development opportunities, a comprehensive induction and relevant training package.
