Are you a Low Carbon Energy Specialist with experience in developing low carbon solutions in multiple sectors?


Our Energy team has delivered many high-profile projects across Ireland, the UK and globally, but we recognise that some of the challenges to be addressed need to happen at a small scale, so your projects and clients will be varied and interesting with huge opportunity to provide AECOM's wide client base with effective low carbon solutions.

Energy audits for building owners and national utility organisations

Process energy reviews for industrial clients

Complex estate decarbonisation master planning

Energy advisory and master planning

Solar power deployment to behind the meter clients and grid scale development


As a Principal Low Carbon Engineer, you will be a senior member of the team and responsible for leading project delivery, developing and maintaining client relationships, team leadership and work winning support.


You are likely to have a background working with a consulting entity but may have been in an advisory capacity with asset owners, utilities or government.

You will also have strong technical knowledge, team leadership, communication and project management skills and the desire to grow your career at AECOM.

Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.


Strong knowledge of the low carbon economy and experience in one or more of the following areas of activity: energy audits, building energy performance, renewable generation and alternative fuels.

Energy Management Systems – ISO 50001

Engineering degree in mechanical, building services or renewable energy disciplines.
