Land Buyer

A regional house builder have a requirement for a Land Buyer to join their Land and Planning team.

About the role - Land Buyer


Reporting to the Land Director, the role is to identify and procure new land/development opportunities, from initial sourcing, agreeing Heads of Terms and contracts through to contract.

It will involve liaising with the Technical, Commercial and Sales department, collating site particulars and data packs to prepare land appraisals in readiness of formulating bid submissions or negotiation with land owners.


Key responsibilities include:
Identifying / negotiating land opportunities and purchases via agent contacts, planning leads and off market openings.
With approval of the Land Director produce and present land offers and negotiate best possible terms.
Develop and maintain a good understanding of the Company's land appraisal system.
Collating / researching information to assess viability including planning intelligence, sales comparables, technical information and commercial data
Build and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders; including landowners, agents, consultants, local authorities, legal advisers and competitors
Preparation of reports for internal meetings including presentation of land bid proposals.
Attendance at planning meetings.
Participating in corporate entertaining / attending events on behalf of the company as and when the need arises.

Requirements for the Land Buyer


The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of land acquisitions achieved within a similar environment, for a minimum of 3 years, together with relevant academic and / or professional qualifications.

Preference will be given to those familiar with all aspects of land purchasing (sourcing credible opportunities for the immediate, short and medium term, maximising offers, good knowledge of the North West area)

Previous experience in a similar role
Have a good network of land agents and be capable of bringing quality sites to the table.
Highly organised, familiar with co-ordinating multiple applications simultaneously and thrive on working to deadlines
Good interpersonal skills, proficient with IT (Microsoft packages, LandInSight software) and a high attention to detail are skills they will possess
Self-motivated, trustworthy, positive, organised and a team player.
Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills; a confident and professional networker
