Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Junior Web Developer to join our dynamic team.

This role is perfect for someone looking to kick-start their career in web development, with opportunities to work on meaningful projects that contribute to sustainable water management.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Lead Platform Developer and the broader team to create engaging, user-friendly web experiences that support our mission.

By collaborating closely with our cross-functional team, you will play a crucial role ensuring customer insights are embedded into the platform development process, driving innovation, refining the user experience, and ensuring platform development is aligned with the company's overall strategic vision.

Specific Responsibilities

Develop and maintain high-quality web applications, using TypeScript, , and React on the front-end, and PHP, Laravel, and MariaDB on the back-end.

Write robust, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Optimising existing sites for performance and WCAG accessibility across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers.
Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and identify potential issues with code developed within the team.
Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise.
Contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of new features and functionalities.
Working with users, product owners and team members to understand requirements, and help translate these into development tasks.

Continuously improve our development processes, from QA and CI/CD workflows to code reviews, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in our development lifecycle.

To be open and interested in new technology and methods of delivering the company's products and services, and to continually develop personal technical skills and to challenge and stretch boundaries.

Other reasonable duties that the company may occasionally require to support other project and/or consultancy activities.
Essential Skills, Experience and Knowledge
Experience of using CI/CD systems and version control software such as Git.
Demonstrable web development experience using server-side PHP and Javascript.
Familiarity with the React library, ideally using server-side rendering frameworks such as
A sound knowledge of design and design processes & the full software development lifecycle
Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills.
Undertake tasks with a positive attitude, generate enthusiasm and develop an effective team working culture.
Ability to break down barriers and build lasting beneficial relationships.
Demonstrate confidence, establish credibility and maintain trust.
Ability to take a proactive, pragmatic and positive approach to problem solving.
Experience of working to deadlines with excellent planning and organisational skills.
Ability to effectively communicate and present solutions to a range of different stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:


Experience of working in the web development field and able to demonstrate continuous professional development in web development and system administration; or a first- or second-class honours undergraduate degree and/or higher degree (MSc/PhD) in computer science or a related discipline.
