Job Description

What your new role will entail:

As part of our Caledonia Water Alliance Joint Venture, AECOM UK is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to work in the CWA Stepps Office within their existing Geotechnical Team.

CWA have responsibility for delivery of Scottish Water's £700m programme of capital investment aimed at maintaining and upgrading their water and wastewater networks. It will be the responsibility of the appointee to provide appropriate geotechnical engineering support across all of the work being undertaken by CWA. In this responsibility you will be aided by, and work closely with, AECOM's UK & Ireland Ground Engineering team.

Job Duties include:

  • Provide appropriate geotechnical advice and support at all stages of project development, from option development through outline design to detailed design and site support.
  • Develop site investigation scopes appropriate to the work content and support to site investigation work.
  • Site supervision of ground investigation works followed by preparation of testing schedules and collation and interpretation of the results of the ground investigation.
  • Mentor junior staff, supporting them with their professional development to help them achieve chartered status.
  • Support practice development and innovation.
  • Provide input on team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.
  • Prepare, check and review a wide range of technical documents, including Desk Studies, Interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings and Design reports.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to CWA and AECOMs industry leading quality assurance programme.

Being part of the team:

You will be key to the Water and Wastewater programmes for our client, Scottish Water designing and installing water and wastewater infrastructure through our SR21 framework across Scotland.

You will join an existing Geotechnical team working with around 30x Engineers and CAD Technicians, with support from other specialist departments from within the AECOM and CWA communities.

We promote staff development and progression, and there are many development opportunities within CWA and AECOM. We offer a unique opportunity to deliver the full project cycle, from concept design through to detailed design, and delivery

The role will be based in Stepps, which is only a 5-minute walk from the train station, and local shops/café's and there's also parking provided too

Qualifications

  • BEng in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards this status.
  • A strong working knowledge of ground conditions and ground investigation practice.
  • Experience in the geotechnical design of earthworks and structures.
  • Willing to travel within the UK.
