Job summary

Working within the Finance, Procurement and Risk (FPR) function, the team plan and deliver a wide range of risk assessment activities as Ofgem�s second line of defence, providing the Chief Executive and the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority with assurance that each of our directorates are actively identifying and managing known and emerging risks and that they are operating an effective control framework, based on Ofgem�s agreed policies.

The post holder will strengthen the understanding and application of effective risk and issue management across the business and support a3 lines of defence assurance programme. The successful candidate will educate and support staff across Ofgem in the identification, management and reporting of risks and issues and ensure that material risks are captured and escalated effectively.

Job description

We are seeking a candidate who has proven record of successfully supporting first line risk managers, ensuring that there is consistency in approach and compliance with the risk management framework across Ofgem and that best practice is shared. You will work with the Finance, Procurement and Risk team and our internal stakeholders to support the improvement of Ofgem�s risk maturity.

You will work with the Head of Business Assurance to deliver key reporting on risks, controls and assurance for senior boards and committees as required. You will ensure that directorate risk registers and issues logs are routinely reviewed, and that risks or issues identified as strategic are escalated in a timely way. This includes providing guidance and challenge to risk owners and senior management.

The ideal candidate will assist the Head of Risk and Assurance in the delivery of routine assurance activities, controls testing and risk analysis. Conducting periodic reviews of all risk policies and risk registers and present same to Ofgem�s Executive Committee and the Audit, Risk & Assurance Committee.

Essential Criteria

Knowledge and experience of risk management processes [lead].Knowledge and understanding modern business assurance procedures, best practice and how this can be applied in real world scenarios [Lead].Excellent written and oral communication skills.�Strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and excellent working relationships with a wide range of teams and individuals.Able to operate and communicate effectively across all internal and external organisational levels, including confidence to negotiate with and influence senior and executive managers.Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

Desirable Criteria

Experience of assurance and/or compliance testing.Previous experience implementing and successful Risk, Assurance and Audit framework across a multifaceted organisation.�
