Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Haematology at East and North Hertfordshire Trust

We are currently seeking a skilled Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Haematology to join our Pathology department at East and North Hertfordshire Trust. If you share our vision of providing outstanding care and service to our patients, we want you on our team.

The Lister Pathology department is actively looking for a Full-time HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist specializing in Haematology. As part of the Blood Sciences department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various analyzers in both departments. We encourage cross-training in other blood science disciplines.

  • Work 28.5 flexible hours per week, including shifts for 24/7 service coverage.
  • Staff development is a priority, and support will be provided for you to become a multidisciplinary team member within the Blood Sciences department.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Process specialist investigations in the department.
  • Offer expert advice to clinicians on test appropriateness and timelines.
  • Provide specialized services such as training and problem-solving for specific requirements.
  • Lead independently in specialist areas as directed.
  • Mentor junior scientific and support staff.

Qualifications & Experience:Essential Criteria:
  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Practical experience in specialist biomedical procedures.
  • Experience in Biomedical Science lab work and Pathology IT systems.
  • Practical experience in Quality Management Systems and Risk Assessments.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Post Registration IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the NHS and staff management.
  • European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent.
Skills:Essential Criteria:
  • Willingness to undergo cross-training to enhance skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong prioritization and concentration abilities.
  • Manual dexterity for laboratory techniques.
