PURPOSE OF JOB


To meet the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

Care provided by mobile support workers is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the service users' own family.


Duties:

  • Perform general housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, and mopping
  • Organize and maintain a clean and tidy living space
  • Assist with laundry and ironing clothes
  • Prepare meals and assist with meal planning
  • Run errands such as grocery shopping and picking up prescriptions
  • Provide companionship and engage in social activities with the client
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing (if required)
  • Monitor medication schedules and assist with medication reminders


To assist service users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing bathing and the toilet.


To help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence and help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.

To help care for service users who are approaching the end of their life.


To set tables, serve meals, feed service users who need help, prepare light meals and wash up, tidy and clear their dining area.

To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

To comply with company guidelines and policies at all times.


To report to the registered manager or line manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.

To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.

To ensure that file records and app records are maintained.

To carry out duties in accordance with the service users individual care plan.

To complete medication records if applicable.

To undertake training.

To comply with code of conduct and practice of CQC.

To respond to calls received via the call centre if requested.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and their families
  • Strong organizational skills to manage household tasks efficiently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Compassionate and patient demeanour when working with elderly or disabled individuals
  • Attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and safety in the home environment
  • Basic cooking skills to prepare nutritious meals
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect client privacy

TRAINING


This position requires a commitment to undertake training as required for the proper and full conduct of duties as well as acting as a trainer and mentor to junior care staff.

Training will be in the following forms

On the job/in house and external courses and training days/e-learning.
