Bank assignments will be available during staff shortages and may involve working in community and hospital settings to provide assessment and treatment for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties.

Main duties of the job:

The SLT service operates five days a week, Monday to Friday, with weekend coverage at the Northumbria Emergency Care Hospital. Our team delivers high-quality services to adults with communication and swallowing issues in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Staff in our voice and upper airways team work with patients with various disorders. We collaborate closely with consultant colleagues and other services to ensure effective patient care.

Our community service assists patients in community hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, and private residences. Acute services are provided in several hospitals, offering dysphagia assessments and communication support to patients with diverse conditions.

Job Responsibilities:

Essential Criteria:
- Recognized Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent
- Health and Care Professions Council License to Practice
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Evidence of completion of specialist courses
- Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks
- Postgraduate level experience
- Proficient in therapy approaches for the client group
- Skilled in various assessments
- Experience in training development and delivery
- Experience in supervision and mentoring

Qualifications/Professional Registration:

  • Recognized Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council - License to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

This role may require travel to different sites and potential weekend work.
