IT Assistant - office based (Twickenham)


The primary purpose of the role is to support and maintain the daily IT needs of staff both in our office and those working remotely.


Key Duties

  • Ensure all primary IT deployed in the office is tested and working before the working day commences for the GYC business.
  • Provide 1st line and occasional 2nd line, handson and remote support for issues raised by staff in the office working to SLA thresholds.
  • Setup, deploy and maintain IT equipment using a standard imaging process; image and configure PC's and laptops to the required specification of GYC / the individual user.
  • Liaise with the internal departments (e.g. Finance) to manage the ordering and distribution of office desktops, laptops, monitors, TV and peripherals for the office, ensuring employees have appropriate equipment to their needs.
  • Maintenance of the asset register of IT equipment and liaison with Finance regularly to ensure it is up to date in both departments.
  • Raise incidents, service requests, changes and problems using internal ticketing system tool, gathering appropriate detail to aid troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Where appropriate, able to liaise with 3rd party suppliers' support teams to successfully manage issues that cannot be fixed internally.
  • Able to prioritise all calls and escalate to 2/3rd line support team in priority order.
  • Maintenance and upgrading of computer systems or offering recommendations on upgrades needed.
  • Manage and implement moves and changes of IT equipment (including patch cabinets).
  • General IT administration and adhoc duties as seen as required by the Associate Director
  • IT or Senior Management.
  • Arrange the safe disposal and recycling of old equipment that meets all GDPR requirements.

  • A clear, concise, and friendly manner is critical, the individual must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organisation.
  • To succeed the individual must work concisely when directed to complete a task, have the initiative to work under their own direction at times, this will need to be complemented by a positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Must be able to prioritise and support multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Ideally will be good at problem solving but also proactive in seeking support when progress is not possible.
Desirable

  • Administration of user and mailbox accounts using office 365, Active Directory and Exchange.
  • Knowledge of Sophos Firewall
  • Microsoft Azure
