PermanentDuration: n/aRC Fornax are looking for Graduate Design Engineer – Electrical for our defence customer based in Honiton.

Our customer encompasses a group of companies within the UK and Australia who design, manufacture and deliver special purpose machines and equipment.

As an employee within the UK Group of companies you should work as part of the team, be flexible in your approach to your work and fulfil any reasonable request to do tasks that may arise and is within your capability.

However, the information below provides details on the key responsibilities of your role.

Main responsibilities:

  • With support produce component and assembly drafting and design from concept to production in an automotive environment using CAD.
  • With support produce circuit diagrams and schematics.
  • With support produce designs to meet the agreed requirements to time and within hours specified.
  • Maintain accurate design records and maintain drawing issue control.
  • Use the PDM system to store and issue drawings.
  • Revise or amend existing designs and drawings to meet new requirements
  • Work with the Project Engineer and other team members to provide the best output.
  • Liaise with suppliers in order to source new components.
  • Assess prototype components for correct fit and function.

Prepare documentation for design reviewsOther responsibilities:

  • To understand and use the Company Handbook and follow the Company's policies with regard to Quality, Health and Safety, Security and IT where appropriate.
  • To maintain an awareness and observation of Fire, Security and Health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure all personal data is managed in accordance with GDPR and company policy
  • Report writing and project information recording.
  • Vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation.
Undertake or provide any training that is necessary within your role.

Essential skills :

  • Cad skills preferably Autocad and SolidWorks.
  • Engineering draughting experience of electrical schematics and looms.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A good communication skill (verbal and written) at all levels including suppliers and customers.
  • Generally computer literate and able to adapt to different software etc.
  • Good report writing and project information recording.
Able to resolve basic computer problems with minimal helpDesirable :

  • Experience of drawing issue control using PDM.
  • Experience of a range of automotive systems.
  • Vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation.

Presentation skillsQualifications:

  • Minimum of HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Automotive electrics, 12 and 24vOr
  • Electrical Engineering Degree
