This is a rare and really exciting opportunity to join the One For Fun Buying team, looking after the new product development and innovation for one of our best-selling brands. Having a keen eye for product and a passion for creating new and trending items is paramount to the success of the role.
You may currently be in an Assistant Buyer or Buyer role with toy category knowledge and looking to build upon your skills within a company that champions innovation and creativity. The title will be decided upon previous experience and knowledge within the industry, with the option of further growth for the right candidate.
The Buyer or Senior Buyer will have responsibility for managing the house brand, working closely with the Head of Buying to introduce new products/ranges that must continue to be key contributors to the company's ongoing success.
Job Role:
- Create new products and commercial ranges that are right for our varied and global customer base.
- Manage new product development stage process in full, from conception to bottom line.
- Consistently keep up to date with new trends and crazes.
- Liaising with suppliers including dealing direct with factories in the Far East, ensuring strong supplier relationships are maintained.
- Introducing new suppliers that can add real value to our business.
- Liaising with QA team to ensure our product meets the required standards.
- Negotiating with suppliers to ensure the companies margin targets are achieved.
- Liaising with design team, providing artwork briefs to ensure our packaging is always first-rate.
- Manage large number of continuity SKUs that are already in the range including suggestions for re-buy proposals.
- Analyse sales data highlighting best/worst performers with implementation of strategies to improve sales.
- Resourcing continuity products where it makes commercial sense.
- Conducting regular competitor analysis.
- Finding new and exciting distribution partners which complement our current house brands.
- Working closely with Buyers Clerk to ensure all product and necessary marketing information is available and correct at launch.
- Work closely with Head of Buying to ensure all brands are represented to the highest level.
- Presenting new ranges for product sign off and presenting new ranges to sales team.
- Working closely with sales team to take on board customer feedback and customer requirements.
- Responsible for set up and merchandising the key brands/new lines at trade fairs.
- Ensure brands are merchandised to the highest level in our showroom.
- Responsible for implementing marketing strategies for category including trade press, etc.
- Fully responsible for managing the house brand, being the entrusted category expert.

Role Requirements:

- Fully competent with Microsoft Office packages and strong excel skills
- Hours are 8:30am – 5pm
- Monday – Friday
- 1 hour lunch break
- 25 days holiday entitlement (3/4 days to be used for Christmas shutdown)
- Role fully remote/home based, but travel is required. Travel to Glasgow office approximately eight times per year. Travel to trade fairs including Far East approximately 1-2 times a year. However, this is dependent upon the business needs.
