Taumutu Rūnanga represents the hapū of Ngāi te Ruahikihiki ki Taumutu. Our marae, located near the shores of Te Waihora (Lake Ellesmere), is at the heart of our community. As one of the 18 papatipu rūnanga members of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, we are dedicated to the kaitiaki (stewardship) of our whenua and the prosperity of our people.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tumu Whakarae/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure the overarching strategy of Te Taumutu Rūnanga is realised. The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors, and provide leadership and direction for the Rūnanga. This pivotal role is based in our main office located in Sockburn, Christchurch.

• Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of our kaimahi (staff), volunteers, whānau, and hapū.
• Lead kaimahi management, fostering a supportive and effective workplace.
• Oversee financial and investment strategies to enhance our financial strength.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi, and internal and external stakeholders.
• A high level of cultural competence, with a demonstrated understanding of Te Taumutu core values.
• Demonstrable leadership skills with years in senior management, preferably at an executive level, including experience in management and cultural leadership.
• Strong financial and legal management capabilities with a sound understanding of commercial and legal matters.
• Experience working with and reporting to a board of directors.
