As the Clinical Skills Educator you will support the Head of Clinical Education in the operational organisation and delivery of:

  • Clinical skills education and training in relation to the All Wales Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) Framework and
  • The continued professional development of skills and competencies for registered professionals (Nursing and AHP's) within PTHB and
  • Delivery and evaluation of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) training program for cohorts of Internationally Educated Nurses, which includes a range of clinical skills training.


This will ensure that clinical care and delivery is updated and implemented in line with evidence based best practice enabling patients to receive high quality, safe and dignified care, which is fundamental in supporting the Health Board to meet strategic objectives of developing a competent and effective clinical workforce with appropriate skills to meet present and future service requirements.


The post holder will work collaboratively with the Head of Clinical Education and the clinical directorate leads to create an effective learning environment within PTHB principle to train and develop registered Health Care Professionals within PTHB e.g.


  • Venipuncture
  • Cannulation
  • Intravenous Medication Administration
  • Basic Life Support


The post holder will design and deliver training packages and assess the competence of learning outcomes and provide feedback when standards haven't been met.

The post holder will deliver and evaluate the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) training program for cohorts of Internationally Educated Nurses.

Support the training and development of Health care support workers, assessing their competency to deliver aspects of nursing or therapeutic care under the delegation of a registered professional.

This includes the design of and leading the delivery of the clinical induction program and other support worker development initiatives as identified.

Support clinical services with pre-registration and HCSWs undertaking further education to achieve their competencies and have a positive learning experience.
