Job Title: Radiographer (Band 5)

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Radiographer looking to join a dynamic team at our cancer center in Macclesfield? This is your chance to be part of a center that offers a full patient experience, delivering complex techniques in radiotherapy supported by state-of-the-art equipment.

The position will be based in East Cheshire but will involve working across all Christie sites, providing you with the opportunity to work in both treatment and pre-treatment sections. At our Macclesfield center, we offer a range of treatments including Chemo/Rad regimes and SABR treatments.

We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and have a commitment to personal development while contributing to the growth of our service.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure accurate planning and delivery of Radiotherapy
  • Contribute to the development of Radiotherapy Services
  • Participate in treatment delivery across all Christie sites

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and accurate operation of radiotherapy and imaging equipment
  • Undertake complex calculations for radiation dose delivery
  • Monitor and evaluate treatment prescription for accurate delivery
  • Comply with quality management systems and safety regulations
  • Position patients and operate radiotherapy equipment
  • Maintain accurate records and follow procedures
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and healthcare professionals
  • Participate in training, research, and new process implementation

Teaching and Training:

  • Attend Personal Development Review annually
  • Participate in essential training and clinical updates
  • Assist in training pre-registration students and new staff
  • Report issues of poor performance to line manager

Person Specification:

Qualifications

Essential

  • Graduate level qualification in radiotherapy
  • HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer

Desirable

  • Evidence of attending post-registration training events

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical placements demonstrating technical and patient care experience
  • Team environment experience

Desirable

  • Quality, governance, and service improvement experience
  • Continuous Professional Development activity

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to make sound judgements in a clinical setting

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Elekta radiotherapy equipment
  • Ability to mentor student radiographers

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of radiotherapy principles and legislation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines in radiotherapy
  • IRMER, IRR, RCR2 awareness

  • Familiarity with advanced radiotherapy trends
