Our client, a leading common law set offers a bespoke service tailored to their client's requirements.

They have some of the finest advocates in their fields at all levels, sensitive yet robust negotiators and precise, thoughtful advisors.

Every year, members are trusted to act in the ground-breaking cases that shape the law and negotiate settlement of some of the most valuable and sensitive cases in the market.

Chambers now seeks a Junior Civil Clerk to join their expanding clerking team. Good presentational skills are essential along with a good telephone manner. Attention to detail and keyboard proficiency are essential for this position. This is a challenging and interesting job, requiring flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team. This is a fast-paced role and highly rewarding role, where no two days are ever the same.

GENERALLY:
To provide efficient and effective support to Members of Chambers, Chambers Clients, the Director of Operations, and all other members of the Clerks Room

To undertake all clerking duties including booking of counsel, liaison with solicitors, other clerks and courts.

KEY TASKS:

  • Ensuring the fair allocation of work to members of chambers and in accordance with the chambers clerking procedure
  • Ensuring all court bookings have the right information, ensuring accurate information about all cases are recorded onto the diary system.
  • Logging all papers/briefs accurately.
  • Prepare the diary daily and notify Counsel of listings for the following day.
  • Assisting with the listing of cases/future hearing dates. Liaising with other Clerks, Court Staff and Solicitors.
  • Work as part of a team with general clerking duties.
  • Dealing with the administration of Direct Access queries.
  • Taking a proactive role to ensure that clerks and members' time is used effectively in the promotion of the members' business.
  • Nurturing and building on existing client relationships and developing new client relationships including visiting clients where appropriate
  • Working closely with the Marketing Executive in all client related marketing activities including keeping family client mailing list updating and notifying completed cases that can go on the website or tweets as news
  • Keeping up to date in legal and other changes affecting the work of the family and crime groups.

WORKING HOURS:9.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch.
