Criminal Litigation Assistant

Bell Cornwall Recruitment are pleased to be hiring for a Criminal Litigation Assistant. Our client are a leading national litigation firm ranked in the highest tier of law firms by the Legal 500 and Chambers UK. They are looking for a professional and experienced Criminal Litigation Assistant to join their dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Drafting documents such as letters, defence statements and formal documents
  • Attending client and counsel conferences
  • Preparing and reviewing disclosure requests
  • Training to become an accredited police station representative to advise clients in the police station as needed
  • Working closely with the counsel to prepare instructions and briefs
  • Documenting court bundles and trial notes
  • Attending court hearings including jury trials
  • Researching and drafting articles for publication

The successful candidate:

  • Excellent academic law qualifications-2.1 degree and above
  • LPC&BPTC qualification
  • Expert knowledge of the Criminal procedure rules
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Great time-management and prioritisation skills
  • Great IT skills to manage internal systems and online legal research tools
  • Excellent written skills to draft detailed legal notes and arguments
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team
  • A proactive "can do" attitude with forward thinking
  • A willingness and desire to learn and gain self-improvement.
