With an exciting 2023 ahead of us and increased activity across all our venues, we are looking for Sales Operators to join our Box Office team, taking a wide range of calls from our audiences, selling tickets and other RSC products and working on the Box Office counters in Stratford-upon-Avon.

You will be a point of contact for both existing customers and for those who will be experiencing theatre for the very first time.

Reporting to the Senior Sales and Ticketing Manager, some of your key responsibilities will include (please see the job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Answering incoming telephone calls and booking tickets on the ticketing system (Tessitura)
  • Welcoming and serving our customers on the Box Office counters and throughout the day and during the incoming of performances
  • Making outbound calls to existing/past RSC customers to promote and sell current/forthcoming productions
  • Processing postal bookings
  • Informing new and existing customers about our diverse programme of events and products
  • Accurately recording and updating customer data at point of sale
  • Dealing with complaints as they arise, providing exceptional customer service
  • Crossselling events and services
  • Participating in team meetings to share ideas and learn about developments
  • Helping to train new staff
We are looking for people with the following skills and experience:

  • Box Office or previous sales and ticketing experience
  • Committed to providing the highest level of customer service
  • Proficient IT skills, and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Selfmotivated team player and able to work on own initiative
  • Able to troubleshoot issues and a solution orientated approach
  • Ideally, you will have some knowledge of ticketing systems


The working day could be anytime between 8.30am to 8.30pm with the rota being produced no later than 2 weeks in advance.


Our telephone lines are open midday until 6pm, Monday to Friday and are closed on Saturdays and Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The Box Office Counter remains open on Sundays.

You will be required to work up to 12 Sundays (9 for the part time role) a year, for which compensatory time off will be given in lieu.
